OXCCU Joins the Back British SAF Campaign to Drive UK Sustainable Aviation Fuel Growth

October 4, 2024

OXFORD, England, 4 October 2024 –  OXCCU, a leading technology startup who are shaping the future of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), has joined the RISE coalition in support of the Back British SAF campaign. This industry-wide initiative urges the Government to fast-track the SAF Revenue Support Mechanism Bill to ensure the UK meets its target of having five SAF plants under construction by 2025.

The Back British SAF campaign, supported by the UK’s major airlines, airports, and fuel producers, aims to position the UK as a global leader in SAF production by ensuring that the necessary investment is secured for domestic SAF plants. The campaign highlights the vital role that SAF will play in decarbonising aviation, with demand for the cleaner fuel already outstripping supply worldwide.

OXCCU’s innovative one-step process, which directly converts CO2 and hydrogen into SAF, will play a key role in reducing the cost of Power-To-Liquid (PtL) fuels and helping the UK aviation industry meet its net-zero targets.

Commenting on OXCCU’s involvement, Andrew Symes, Co-Founder and CEO, said: "We’re proud to support the Back British SAF campaign. Establishing a robust SAF industry in the UK is crucial to securing both our energy independence and leadership in sustainable aviation. At OXCCU, we believe that by working with key industry partners, we can scale up SAF production and ensure the UK stays competitive in the global transition to net zero."

Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, and Stansted airports have already pledged their support for the campaign, reinforcing the collective industry effort to develop a homegrown SAF sector that will drive jobs, growth, and sustainability in the UK.
